Editor - Nations & Regions Production Fund

Emma started her career in the Independent sector where she stayed for ten years producing and directing factual programmes for the BBC, Channel 4 and numerous cable and satellite channels. In 1995 she joined Carlton Television as a Commissioning Editor in Factual Programmes. She became Controller of Regional Programmes first at Carlton and then at ITV London after the merger between Carlton and Granada in 2004. In that same year she received a special Royal Television Society Award for her outstanding contribution to regional television.

She maintains responsibility for the Independently produced output at ITV London and has recently taken on the role of Editor of the Nations and Regions Production Fund at ITV Network Centre.

Diana Howie joined the Daytime and Factual team at ITV, in August 2007, with a remit that covers new factual and factual entertainment commissions for ITV digital channels and ITV1 daytime & off peak. In addition to this Diana is involved in the Regional Production Fund and Advertiser Funded Programming.

Before joining ITV, Diana was Head for Commissioning at UKTV, a joint venture between the BBC and Virgin Media consisting of 10 commercial digital channels. Diana specialised in high-end commissions across all genres and platforms and is credited with originating new TV formats with talent such as Sir Terry Wogan, Gary Rhodes, Bruce Forsyth, Danny Baker, Rosemary Shrager and Anthony Worral Thompson. Alongside these high profile commissions Diana was responsible for several advertiser funded projects including ‘An Italian In Mexico’ (old El Paso) and ‘Baby Squad’ (Cow and Gate).

Prior to joining UKTV in 2003 Diana worked for independent production company, Cactus TV, as Senior Executive Producer, responsible for creating, pitching, budgeting, piloting and producing a number of entertainment and factual entertainment shows for a range of terrestrial and non-terrestrial broadcasters.

From 1996 to December 2001 Diana worked as producer and executive producer for Carlton Television in the entertainment department. She joined Carlton from Virgin Radio where she produced a long running daily drive-time comedy and entertainment show and before this she was an Associate Producer in the entertainment department of the BBC working on a range of shows and with a broad range of on-screen talent.

Before joining the BBC, Diana worked in a number of research, associate producer and commissioning editor roles for a range of high profile TV and music companies including London Weekend Television and Polydor Records.
